Yesterday, 80 Travel With Alan group members flew in and spent the night at the Embassy Suites Hotel.Today they boarded Holland America Lines ms Rotterdam for their 37-day Voyage of the Vikings cruise across the North Atlantic and back.
The next day, one of our buses picked me up at the hotel in the early morning, and we made our way to the pier in Civitavecchia.
As the group came off the ship, we loaded up the buses and took everyone into Rome for a city tour.
Along the way, they will have some great port calls in the Canadian Maritimes, Iceland, Greenland, and Northern Europe.
They will return to Boston in the middle of September, with many interesting stories, Im sure!
Having the overnight in the city gave people the chance to visit some of the nightclubs, like the Tropicana and the Buena Vista Social Club, for some fantastic Cuban food, drink, and music.
I just wandered in the Plaza Vieja, which was walking distance from the ship, and walked along, hearing the music pouring out many of the restaurants and bars. I would say that all 246 people in our group are very happy!
Today its starting off to be a beautiful day in Seattle.
Tonight, Ill take the train to Vancouver and tomorrow morning, along with Stephen, Joanne, and Georgia, Ill meet the group of 381 people returning from their 15-day Hawaiian Islands cruise aboard the Island Princess.
Even though bad weather was predicted, we have had some very nice, sunny weather.
We had two days in Fort Lauderdale, staying at the Embassy Suites Hotel. The next day, most of our group had a tour of Flamingo Gardens and some free time at Las Olas, Fort Lauderedales old Downtown.
Yes, it s been a busy time here at Travel With Alan! I have to say that the cruise ship was a fantastic way to see Havana.
