Is there anyway I can get a XP cd-rom to access the drivers from? Hi If if you cant find similar laptop to get drivers from then you'll have to download xp sp3 iso and create your own installation disk, otherwise you'll have to upgrade to either vista, seven or ubuntu (which am currently downloading).
I have found the folder I386 which I assume will contain the XP CD-ROM image on the hard disk.
I have gone on system properties-device manager and it is highlighting in yellow a question mark on all devices and Ports (COM & LPT) I dont want to uninstall the drivers and port and then restart laptop to hopefully allow Windows to detect them just incase it knackers up anything...
Choose the Don’t search, I will choose the driver to install Have Disk buttons, so that you can select the device driver that you want to install and update.
From the Install from Disk dialog box, click the Browse button 9.
Besides, updating drivers will also give you the chance to enjoy additional features for the hardware.
Below is an easy to follow direction on how to update drivers in the Device Manager option in Windows XP: 1.
In many cases the answer to this is yes, however in some cases the manufacturers no longer make the Drivers available so you need to use a Driver Update Tool to install the missing Drivers.
The purpose of such as tool is to save you time and effort by automatically downloading and updating the Drivers for you.

Download and extract all necessary driver files from the hardware maker or manufacturer, but there are also other means of getting these files.
